A driver narrowly escaped from a crash in Lincoln as his truck sinks into a pond Sunday. The 17-year-old has now been cited by police for negligent driving.
Around 9 p.m. Sunday night, the driver of a truck lost control of his vehicle near 56th & Pine Lake Rd. The truck hit a tree, breaking out the driver's side window.
The truck then slid onto a pond and broke through the ice. The door would not open, but the driver managed to slip out through the broken window and was not injured.
It took a scuba diver, a sledge hammer, two tow trucks and nearly two hours to get the pickup out of the pond at 56th and Pine Lake on Monday afternoon.
The boy's dad said it took his son some time before realizing things could have been much worse.
