A Marshalltown, Iowa woman is recovering from injuries after a collision caused part of a railroad bridge to collapse, crushing her sport utility vehicle.
A pickup pulling a crane on a trailer was trying to pass under the Des Moines bridge Friday afternoon when the crane hit the bridge. The collision caused the bridge's metal support beams to fall, crushing 37-year-old Bobbi Hills' SUV, which was passing under the bridge at the time.
Hills was trapped until equipment could be brought in to lift a piece of the fallen bridge off of the crushed SUV. She was flown to a Des Moines hospital where she was treated for minor injuries.
The driver of the pickup was not injured.
