Duane Safarik, who was killed in a one car accident Wednesday night on West Center Rd is being remembered as a loving father and excellent employee.
Safarik's father also named Duane, told Channel 6 News, "My son was the kind of guy who would rather do something for others than for himself."
For the last two years Joe volunteered to help coach his daughter's soccer team. "The girls went from not liking soccer to not wanting to miss a practice," his father said.
"And he had the same impact at work as a plumber," he added. "His boss called Joe 'Superman' because he could do the work of five guys. He had just made arrangements for his son and nephew to begin school to learn the trade."
Safarik was 32, he is survived by his wife, son and daughter.
Safarik's father is setting up a memorial fund at First National Bank of Omaha to help the family with funeral expenses and scholarships for the children.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
