The driver in a fatal accident that happened in early February has been charged with motor vehicle homicide.
A woman was killed and two others injured in the crash on Saddle Creek Road near Poppleton Avenue in Omaha on February 3rd. Police said at the time that speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.
Witnesses said a Cadillac DeVille driven by 23-year-old Raysean Barber of Omaha was traveling southbound on Saddle Creek at a high rate of speed around 12:30 a.m. when it went onto the curb at Saddle Creek and Pierce, re-entered the roadway, crossed into northbound traffic and struck a Chevy Aveo.
The driver of the Aveo, 60-year-old Betty Warren of Omaha , was taken to Creighton University Medical Center where she died of her injuries. Barber was taken to the hospital to be treated for his injuries and was charged with motor vehicle homicide on Thursday.
A speed calculation done estimated his speed was 98 mph. The speed limit on Saddle Creek Road is 35 mph.
Barber's BAC was .146. He will be arraigned on Friday.
His passenger, 24-year-old Kody Koch of Omaha, was treated for minor injuries.
