A series of improvements in downtown Fremont have store owners and patrons hopeful the area will blossom.
Improvements include planting trees in curb areas to add to the downtown ambiance, lighting to match other historic styled lights, replacing traffic signals with stop signs and repaving sidewalks trimmed with bricks.
Downtown property owners will be assessed to pay for the sidewalk improvements. Those costs, however, have not been finalized.
Lighting costs came through state and federal grants.
