Plea entered in domestic violence case that involved a gun. The husband and wife were arguing over her selling his guitar, said the prosecution.
The Cassgram reports 60-year-old Michael A. LaMontia was arrested last fall when deputies were called to a domestic dispute at residence on Milford Road in Beaver Lake. A 9mm handgun was confiscated.
In Cass County District Court this week, LaMontia pleaded guilty to terroristic threats, a Class IV Felony. One count of use of a weapon to the commit a felony, a Class IC Felony, was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. LaMontia will be sentenced March 20th.
Chief Deputy Cass County Attorney Colin Palm said the verbal argument about the guitar sale escalated and the female victim told deputies LaMontia pointed a loaded gun at her and said he “was going to end all this.” LaMontia told deputies that night he did not point the gun at her and it was not loaded. When deputies confiscated the gun, the loaded magazine was not in the gun
