A Hastings shelter is a lot fuller after taking in 24 dogs who were owned by a former breeder.

The workers at Start Over Rover say the dogs, who vary in breed, suffer from various ailments ranging from tooth decay to cancerous growths.

Board President Anne Halbert says the first things on the agenda is nursing the dogs back to health.

"One of them didn't make it. There are still three that are going to require surgery, and we'll see what we can do," said Halbert.

Halbert said Start Over Rover is in need of donations of wet dog food and dog beds. They also appreciate monetary donations.

If you are interested in donating or would like to adopt an animal, contact the shelter at 402-834-0640.

You can also visit them at their location in Hastings at 134 N. Barnes Avenue.
