An Omaha woman is furious with a plumber hired to do some work in her place. Her anger isn’t directed at the job he did. She claims he attacked and severely injured her 20-pound dog.

According to the police report, Peggy Babcock told investigators the man let her poodle mix named Jack out of his kennel and then struck the dog with a metal stake commonly used to tether a dog outdoors.

She was at work when it happened -- November 1.

Babcock told officers the blow knocked the animal’s eye out of the socket. She tells Channel Six News that there isn't any neurological damage, but there was a skull fracture and the lost eye.

An emergency trip to the vet lead to a successful treatment of the dog, but also left the woman with a $1,668.74 bill.

Babcock questions why the guy let the dog out of the kennel in the first place -- only to later explain that he felt threatened and that's why he used the metal tether to protect himself.

Omaha Police have re-submitted the case to the County Attorney as a felony Destruction of Property case. Babcock says investigators initially felt there wasn't a strong case to prove what the plumber did to the dog since there are no witnesses.

Before-and-after photos of the injured dog can be seen through the attached slideshow above. A word of caution -- the images can be disturbing.
