It took about an hour for Gloria Montgomery and her family to realize the dog they brought home from the groomer wasn't their Lucy.
It began as routine trip to Suds N' Scissors in Lincoln Tuesday when Montgomery was told Lucy would be ready for pick-up in about four hours. Not long after that, the groomer called saying Lucy was ready. After bringing her home, Lucy wasn't playing with her favorite toys or eating her go-to treat and that's when Montgomery figured out something was amiss.
The people who took Lucy home let her go outside during Tuesday's snow, thinking it was their dog and she ran away. Both dogs are the same breed and look identical. "I'm sure she's scared to death right now," said Montgomery.
The people who took Lucy home live near North 148th Street and Fletcher Avenue where they, along with Suds N' Scissors owner Deb Noonan, are looking for her. "We went out in the blizzard for three or four hours to try and bring her home," said Noonan, who added this is her life's work and is a job she takes personally. "I don't want anything to happen to [Lucy], I'd like to bring her home." Noonan said a mix-up like this never happens.
"The weather has me worried and it's supposed to get so cold tonight and it was so cold last night and she's not used to the cold," said Montgomery.
