We have seen it happen in movies, where someone fires a gun to break up a fight. It usually works because the actors stick to the script and they use a prop gun with blanks. On Saturday morning, however, an apparent attempt to stop a fight ended with two people being wounded.
Lincoln police say there was a disturbance outside a party near 10th and Hill Street. They say one of those attending the party, 21-year old Alen Sljivo, retrieved a handgun from his vehicle and fired twice in a possible attempt to silence the fight.
Police say he wounded two friends: A 20-year old man who was hit in the left thigh and a 19-year old man who was struck in the right calf. Sljivo immediately transported his friends to a hospital.
Police recovered the handgun from Sljivo’s vehicle. He was arrested for two counts of second degree assault and two counts of use of a weapon to commit a felony.
