A delivery man gets the scare of his life after he was robbed while trying to deliver an order. He’s worried it may have been a set up.
It’s Gavin Guldenpfennig’s job to provide freaky fast delivery to Jimmy John’s customers, but on Friday night instead he found himself in a freaky situation.
He was delivering an order to an apartment near 89th and Burt when a man came up to him. He thought he was walking in also, so Guldenpfennig said hello. "Then all the sudden he's coming towards me with his hands in his pockets saying, 'Hey I have a gun, give me your money,'" said Guldenpfennig.
It was a scary situation for Guldenpfennig who’s only been on the job for a month. “It hits you like wow this is really happening. I backed up for a second and said ‘Okay calm down I'll give you my money.’"
What the robber didn’t know was that delivery drivers actually carry a limited amount of cash. In this case Jimmy John’s only allows their drivers to have 20 dollars in change on them. “I told him I don't carry any more money, that's all I'm allowed to have. He didn't like that very much."
The man took the cash, the bag of food, and Guldenpfennig’s keys, then left. After talking to police Guldenpfennig returned to the apartment complex to try the delivery again, but didn’t have any luck finding the caller. “Nobody answered the door or the phone.” That’s why he thinks it may have been a set-up.
For now Guldenpfennig feels luck things ended like they did. “I think it turned out as well as it could have.”
The suspect is described as a white male, 28 to 34 years old, 6’2”, heavy set, with dark hair. He was wearing a dark baseball cap and black hoodie. He was driving a black 4 door Dodge Intrepid. Contact police if you have any information on this case.
