A Nebraska man who serves as a small-town mayor survived a recall attempt Thursday.
Some citizens of Decatur -- an hour-and-a-half drive north of the metro -- wanted to kick Jim Nicola out of office.
When it came to the vote however, Nicola beat the recall attempt handily.
Official numbers from Burt County had 66 people voted to recall him and 135 people or 67% voting no.
Critics said he wasn't listening to the taxpayers. Nicola said the recall was pointless and that he worked hard as mayor and only had the best interests of the community in mind.
Nicola had served 12-years in a previous stint on the Decatur Village Board.
