Omaha police are investigating a double homicide. Two bodies were found inside Genuine Auto Body at 40th and Grant just after 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Police have now identified the two victims as 47-year-old Charles Morales and 40-year-old Bernardo Noriega.
“I'm just in shock,” said Becky Stander. “I just can't believe this. There's shootings every day in Omaha all the time, but this is family, this is close.”
Stander said her sister was engaged to Morales. “He was a very good guy, he'd do anything for anybody.” Stander said her sister came to pick up her fiance to go to their 8-year-old son's birthday party, but when she arrived she found him dead.
“A guy came knocking on my door and asked me where my sister was and I told him she was at Alec's birthday party, they were celebrating his birthday and he said no she's not, her vehicle’s down at Genuine Auto Body.”
“He treated everyone like their son or their daughter, treated me like his son,” said Ryan Stander, Becky's son. He said Morales helped run the Genuine Auto Body shop and helped mentor him.
“He taught me how to sand a car down with Pair Paint and paint it, prime it, buff it, wax it, everything.” Stander said there will never be anyone like the man he considered his uncle. “He's like a dad to me, did me well, put food in my stomach, fed me, we had a good time together. Now, it’s rough, now he's gone.”
Police have not disclosed how they died. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact police at 402-444-5652.
