Deadly Crash Nets Decades in Prison

Jefferson Potter has been sentenced to 27 1/2 years in prison for the death of Jen Siemiens last summer.

Potter stole a lawn truck and while running from police he caused a chain reaction crash that resulted in the fatality.

Potter entered a plea of No Contest to the charges. He was on parole at the time of the crash last June.

He stole the truck and trailer from a lawn care company in the area of 33rd and Arbor. Later the same day, witnesses reported Potter was driving erratically and speeding when he collided with a vehicle driven by Ryan Ashburn at Saddle Creek and Leavenworth. Jennifer Siemens was a passenger in Ashburn's vehicle.

Potter tried to run from the scene but several witnesses to the crash chased him and held him until police arrived.

When officers got to the scene they found that Potter was carrying a loaded handgun in his back pocket.
