While dad is often the stereotypical breadwinner of the family, what he does to earn that income has now been linked to birth defects in children.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina polled 5,000 fathers. One-thousand had children with a birth defect.
Their findings drew a link between certain jobs and an increased risk for babies born with defects, including computer scientists, artists, photographers, landscapers, drivers and those operating cranes and diggers.
The study did not look any specific types of chemicals. Much more research is warranted.
The job classification was restricted to the three months before conception and the first month of pregnancy.
