A police report shows an officer who stopped a suspected drunk driver narrowly avoided injury. While in the Wahoo police cruiser the suspect Tracy Nesson grabbed the cruiser keys and ran back to his car.
The Wahoo officer ran after Nesson who attempted to slam the door on the officer's arm. The report says Nesson drove off with the officer's arm still in the car door. The officer had to run along the vehicle and was able to break free and avoid being run over.
That started a two county pursuit involving several agencies.
Saunders county Sheriff Kevin Stukenholtz tells WOWT6 news the pursuit happened just before 1am Tueasday morning. It started when a Wahoo officer had the car pulled over but the driver sped away.
The chase went onto county roads south of Wahoo and into Butler county. Units from Wahoo police, Saunders, Butler counties and Nebraska State Patrol were involved in the pursuit. The driver rolled the vehicle in Butler county but was not seriously injured.
52-year old Tracy L. Nesson faces charges of driving under the influence, fleeing to avoid arrest and obstructing an officer.
