Any baseball player who has torn through the immaculately prepared Rosenblatt infield no doubt has a respect for Jesse Cuevas. Now the city of Omaha recognizes a day in his name.
The Omaha City Council spoke of the labor of love that the stadium was for Cuevas. For that, April 13th 2012 will be Jesse Cuevas Day, coinciding with Jesse’s retirement from the city.
"It's the end of a long road, long journey. The last couple years have been a strange journey but it's always good to finish something and this is finished," Jesse Cuevas said.
Cuevas says he hopes to remain in the sports industry.
