The UFL team announced Crouch’s return to football at a news conference Tuesday morning. Crouch, who is now 32, last played football in 2006 with the CFL. He has spent recent years selling playground equipment and medical supplies.
After winning the Heisman Trophy as a Husker, Crouch became a third-round draft pick for the St. Louis Rams in 2002. He was with three NFL teams but never played a regular season game.
Crouch will compete with DJ Shockley and Jeremiah Masoli for the starting quarterback position.
