Sarpy County Museum
The Sarpy County Museum’s newest exhibit, “A History of Crime and Punishment in Sarpy County” is scheduled to open in September.
There visitors will learn more about moonshiners in Bellevue, escaped convicts in Gretna, and horse thieves in Papillion. “We are excited to have the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office partnering with us on this exhibit,” Museum Executive Director Ben Justman said.
Some of the events include a presentation on cold cases, a “Cops and Robbers,” cemetery tour and a discussion of the early days of law enforcement in the county.
Sunday, September 7th: 1-3 p.m. – Bellevue’s Buried History Tour, “Cops and Robbers.” This guided tour through Bellevue Cemetery will highlight judges, law enforcement and even a few of the more colorful law breakers of Sarpy County’s past.
Saturday, September 13th, 2-4 p.m. – Deputy Lloyd Schoolfield will entertain the audience with stories from the beginnings of the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Department and information on changes in law enforcement equipment.
Saturday, September 28th, 2-4 p.m. – “Cold Cases of Sarpy County,” a presentation about three cold cases.
Saturday, October 11th, 2-4 p.m. – Enjoy a presentation about the history of the Sarpy County Attorney’s Office.
