Creston Hospital Damaged By Storm

Creston, Iowa was hit hard by a storm Saturday night, causing damage to the town's hospital. It's unknown how many injuries there may be, if any.

Officials said windows were broken and power and phone lines were down at the Greater Regional Medical Center and at the nearby community college.

Creston Mayor Warren Woods said a storm swept through the town of about 7,800 residents between 6:30 and 7 p.m. A woman who answered the phone at the hospital said no one was hurt and the staff was working to move patients. It wasn't clear where they were being taken.

Iowa Gov. Branstad has sent additional state troopers to the area to assist. Both Union and Fremont counties have been declared disaster areas. Creston is about 75 miles southwest of Des Moines.
