He has taught others the world of photojournalism for more than four decades and now, the Rev. Don Doll, S.J. is getting some recognition for his passion.
Fr. Doll, professor of journalism at Creighton University, will receive an honorary doctorate and deliver the commencement address at St. Xavier University’s 2013 Winter Commencement on Sat., Dec. 14.
Fr. Doll is a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences and has been teaching at Creighton for more than 40 years.
He is an internationally recognized photographer who has been featured in National Geographic and a number of the “Day in the Life of…” book series created by Rick Smolan.
Fr. Doll's two-year project titled “The Jesuits” has taken him around the world. One of his stories from this project, “Finding Ernesto,” aired on ABC’s Nightline with Ted Koppel in 1999. Doll has photographed for the Jesuit Refugee Service in Uganda, Southern Sudan, Burundi, Rwanda, the Congo, Chad, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East since 2005.
