A woman's credit cards disappear out of her purse while she's eating lunch at a Bellevue restaurant. Then hours later a suspect is seen racking up thousands of dollars in purchases at several area stores.
Bellevue Police say the suspect is seen on surveillance leaving the Target store at 72nd and Dodge in Omaha after using the stolen credit cards. But before her trip to Target, the same woman is seen on surveillance video using the stolen cards at the Walmart in Bellevue and the Lowe’s in Papillion.
The victim was with a group of people eating at Panera Bread in Bellevue with her purse hanging over the back of her chair earlier in the day. Police say someone was able to remove the victim’s wallet from her purse and take out her credit cards, then put the wallet back without anyone in the victim’s group noticing anything suspicious.
The victim noticed the cards were gone a few hours later and contacted her bank. But the suspect had already made several thousand dollars in purchases with the stolen cards.
