A crash victim who was buried alive under three tons of limestone rock is thankful another driver spotted the wreck and came to the rescue. The rescuer didn't wait for help but dug out the victim by hand until he started breathing again.
Cody Lindsey said the load of driveway rock he was pulling in a trailer hooked to his pickup started to sway on the highway leading into Weeping Water,Nebraska last Friday. The vehicle left the road and headed for a quarry lake when Lindsey bailed out fearing he might sink. But the trail flipped over dumping the rock on top of him. Cody said, "The only thing sticking out was the top of my head and my nose." Dazed by the pressure of the rock Cody doesn't remember what happened next.
Chris Stackpole also of Weeping Water spotted the top of the trailer and stopped to investigate. Chris told Channel Six News "I started yelling but didn't see anybody then I noticed just his head sticking out of the limestone."
Chris called 911 and started digging by hand. Chris said, "After I got the rock off him he started breathing again."
Cody said, "Chris didn't hesitate and basically saved my life. But Chris doesn't consider himself a hero. Chris Stack Pole said, "I just dd what I hope anyone would do."
