A man was killed and a woman injured in a three-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 at Highway 31 near Gretna Saturday night.
Sarpy County Sheriff's Department investigators say a speeding car heading eastbound went out of control near the Melia Hill rest area just before 8:30 p.m., crossed the median and crashed into two westbound semis. One of the trucks went out of control and tipped over.
The crash shut down the westbound lanes of I-80 for about an hour. The driver of the car, Benjamin Behlen of Columbus, Nebraska, died in the wreck. A passenger in one of the semis was taken to Alegent Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha with minor injuries. Neither truck driver was hurt.
