Drug use is being investigated as a factor in an accident that injured two men in Omaha Sunday afternoon.
Witnesses told police a car was southbound on 42nd Street when it crossed into the northbound lanes, jumped the curb and struck a tree in front of the U.S Bank near Valley Street just after 4 p.m.
After hitting the tree, the car flipped causing an overhead parking light to fall. Both the unrestrained driver, 28-year-old Benjamin Palmer of Omaha, and the restrained passenger, 32-year-old Dave Moore of Omaha, were taken to the Nebraska Medical Center. Palmer suffered abrasions and bruises. He was cited for DUI drugs and careless driving. Moore suffered a concussion and facial fracture.
