Court Case Figures

Case numbers in court last year south of the metro show decreases.

Cass County District Court filings totaled 553 in 2012. That compares to 592 in 2011, 680 in 2010, 603 in 2009, and 719 in 2008.

There were 75 criminal cases last year. There were 82 in 2011, 70 in 2010, 54 in 2009 and 76 in 2008.

The number of civil cases filed in 2012 totaled 98. In 2011 that total was 94. There were 119 in 2010, 124 in 2009 and 107 in ‘08.

There were 272 filings in the domestic category such as divorces, restraining orders, child support, etc. last year. That compares to 306 in 2001, 356 in 2010, 320 in 2009 and 377 in 2008.

88 entries in 2011 were not counted as actual case filings. Those would include requests for transcripts of judgments from other jurisdictions, search warrant requests, etc.
