Tuesday night, the county decides how it will pay for digging up a backyard that was searched for a missing woman who is presumed dead.
The Douglas County Board of Commissioners approved a tort claim for $5,000 for damage to the property of Robert Edwards. The claim will be paid for with forfeiture dollars from the sheriff's funds, and not taxpayer money.
Douglas County Sheriff's dug up Edwards' back patio last October because they received tips that Jessica O’Grady's body may have been buried underneath. The 19-year-old was last heard from on May 10, 2006. Edwards' son Christopher is serving 80 years in prison for the murder of O’Grady.
