Update: Council Bluffs Police Investigate Home Invasion

Council Bluffs police were dispatched to a shooting Friday morning. It turned out to be a home invasion where a pellet gun was used.

Officers responded to a home in the 3600 block of 5th Avenue around 7:30 a.m. Emergency dispatchers were initially told as many as three people were injured, including a 12-year-old. However, once police sorted things out, they determined no children lived in the home.

They say about 7:15 a.m., three masked men burst into the home, armed with a pellet gun and fired at the brothers. According to family, one man was hit. He was taken to a hospital for observation.

The victims told police the suspects got away with a wallet. So far, no arrests have been made.

Channel 6 News has been told that 49-year-old Raymond Doss was hit on the head with a blunt object. He refused medical treatment.

Another resident, 41-year-old Rodney Doss, was hit several times with a blunt object and shot in the chest several times with the pellet gun. He was taken to the Nebraska Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Also in the home, a 70-year-old woman who suffered minor scratches.
