Council Reviews Big Event This September

The Weeping Water City Council heard plans about a benefit to happen on September 14th. The poker run will benefit the Weeping Water Rescue volunteers involved in the June 11th accident. Long range plans are to make it an annual event with future proceeds to be invested in a Cass County Volunteer Emergency Fund which would be available for any Cass County community experiencing an emergency situation.

The Cassgram reports the city council allowed the use of Gibson Hall as the registration location for the event.

Other items pertaining to emergency services in Weeping Water:

-The applications of five individuals were accepted into the rescue squad ride-a-long program.

-The resignations of two from the ride-a-long program were accepted.

-The council learned one individual had recently obtained EMT status.

-The council advised the rescue department to proceed with the search for a rescue vehicle replacement.

---The Weeping Water City Council also accepted the resignation of Earnest West as Fire Chief and approved his request to be listed on retired status.
