Sales tax goes into eefect in Murray on April 1st. The 1% tax was approved by voters 54% (119) for, 46% (100) against in the November General Election.
The Cassgram reports the village board then took the necessary action to implement the sales tax and that tax will be in effect next week.
The tax has no sunset (ending) date. Based upon the sales and use tax receipts from the Nebraska Department of Revenue, the village board said Murray could generate up to $20,000 annually with the sales tax.
