The Plattsmouth City Council has approved a multiple project agreement with HDR Inc. for the purpose of assessing the damage to the city’s infrastructure from the flood. The engineers are to develop recommendations for repair, develop recommendations for mitigation work for the infrastructure, and assist the city in obtaining funding.
The Cassgram reports that HDR’s assessment, with assistance from Olmsted and Perry Engineering,is not to exceed $61,408.
City administrator Erv Portis urged the council to move quickly because there are many time sensitive guidelines to follow to qualify for federal funding reimbursement through Federal Emergency Management Agency channels.
There will be several facets to the assessment, said Chris Koenig of HDR. “The water plant was really hit hard” by the flooding, he added.
