A conference this week in Nebraska will focus on providing better access to behavioral health services through telecommunications systems.
The third annual Behavioral Health Information Technology
Conference will be Friday at the University of Nebraska Medical
Center in Omaha.
The sessions will available online to participants at UNMC sites in Scottsbluff, Kearney, Norfolk and Lincoln.
UNMC professor Micheal Rice says 90 percent of Nebraska's
behavioral health care providers are in Omaha and Lincoln, so
there's a need for those services in rural parts of the state.
He says the goal is to develop a telecommunications system that allows rural residents to connect with those providers.
