It's been more than a year since Vanessa Thomas was shot outside her home near 40th and Sprague Street. a year later and her family is still asking for justice, hoping someone will come forward with information about her killer.
It was the night of December 5th, 2010.
“That was just right around the corner from where I lived,” said Robert Campbell.
Campbell was watching the news when he saw the latest Omaha shooting.
“With all the deaths and everything else that's happened here in Omaha I didn't think for a moment that I would loose my cousin,” said Campbell.
His cousin, 31 year old Vanessa Thomas was shot found shot outside her home at 40th and Sprague. Now, more than a year later and her family members are asking for justice.
“It doesn't always have to come, end with violence and shooting or whatever. It's just too much,” said Campbell.
He believes her death was out of retaliation and that her killer is still out there.
“Until we find the person or persons responsible for killing her. I'm not going to be satisfied,” said Campbell.
He says with Omaha’s latest homicide, he's had enough of the violence. And he is hopeful that someone will come forward with information to help give justice to Thomas’s family.
“I just want her to be put at rest,” said Campbell.
We tried to reach investigators for an update concerning the status of this case. They were unable to get back to us before news time.
