A woman goes to the dry cleaners only to find the shop cleaned out, leaving her and other customers without the clothes they'd left.
The unexpected closing of Cornhusker Cleaners at 25th and Cornhusker in Bellevue left Ellen Kramer hanging. “It’s completely cleaned out.”
Kramer brought about a dozen sweaters there in October, then had to leave town for a few weeks. “My mom died and when I came back I just wasn't thinking about my clothes and I came to get them and they weren't open.”
Though leaving her sweaters there for a month, she never expected to find the cleaners closed and her clothes missing. The phone number for the cleaners has been disconnected and Kramer says the business had her number and should have called her to come pick up her clothes before locking the doors.
A neighboring business tenant says other customers have come to the cleaners. “Some lady was knocking on the door and I said they're closed and she goes, for the day?” says Debbie Benson. “I said no, they're gone. They took all their stuff out. She goes, oh my God!”
The landlord provided Fact Finders with a cell number and the cleaners’ owner says he's tried to contact about 10 customers to assure them their clothes are clean and safe. He says the website cornhuskercleaners.com is a way to reach him.
“I’d like to get my clothes back or know where they are,” says Kramer. Fact Finders put her in contact with the owner and she's been promised her sweaters will be delivered Monday evening.
