Close race still undecided south of the metro.
The Cass county canvassing board begins its work today. Among its duties: examining 198 not-yet-counted provisional ballots, says Cass County Election Commissioner Nancy Josoff. The board will examine the ballots to decide if they are eligible for inclusion in the totals.
A vote differential of less than 1% automatically triggers a recount which means the canvassing board will be recounting ballots in the District 1 Cass County Commissioner race.
The Cassgram reports the tally after Tuesday night’s counting was 900 (50.2%) for Republican John Warsing and 888 (49.5%) for Democrat John Baroni. The not-yet-counted provisional ballots could be a factor in that race, said Josoff. There are 53 provisional ballots to be looked at from Cass County Commissioner District 1.
