Cleaning Up Along The Elkhorn River

Crews along the Elkhorn River are removing the ugliness of years past.

Construction crews are removing years of overgrown trees along the levee on the west side of the river on the northern edge of Waterloo at the Highway 64 bridge.

The levees held during flooding two years ago, but some of the trees have been an eyesore here for decades.

Crews are also shoring up the river bank with rocks to stop erosion.

We're told this is a joint effort between the Papio Natural Resource District and the City of Waterloo.
