The City of Omaha is ready to hit the streets with plows and sand. City Councilman Chris Jerram posted the City's snow removal plan on his Facebook page.
According to the plan, crews will report to work at midnight to monitor the weather and streets. They expect to begin de-icing and plowing when necessary; likely around 3 a.m.
The plan calls for crews to remain on major routes throughout the morning. Multiple trucks will be plowing in tandem on most routes.
The city plans to call its contractors in at 6 a.m. They will be assigned to secondary routes and will remain on the streets until the heavy snow stops accumulating.
Work in residential areas is planned to start around noon on Saturday. Since the snow is expected to fall into the evening, final clean up will not start until early Sunday morning.
Crews hope to have given all residential streets at least one pass by Sunday at noon, but expect that it will be Monday afternoon before the snow clearing operation is finished.
