Playing outside was an obvious choice for children off from school Friday due to the snow, but there were other options. Many chose the Omaha Children's Museum where wind chill is never a factor, although we did spot a "tornado" inside.
The museum was closed Thursday because of the weather, but reopened at 10 a.m. Friday.
The numbers were down compared to other weekdays. Workers assumed that many families either thought they were not open or simply didn't want to venture outside to downtown Omaha.
Some of the youngsters came to the museum after getting tired of the snow.
“She played out in the snow for a little bit,” said mom Dara Somjana of Omaha. “She did a snow angel and said, ‘I'm over this, it's too cold.’”
