Ash Wednesday marks the start of the Lenten season for Catholics around the world. Many Catholic schools in the metro started the day with a special mass.

But the rest of the day was like any other.

Students at St. Thomas More were burning off a little after lunch energy before heading back to class.

Channel 6 News asked them about the season and what they were doing to reinvigorate the faith.

Brett Brodin says, “You take time that you would usually watch TV or something and you pray or you fast for something.”

Natalie Klement says, "If a person is just playing video games, instead of playing video games or sitting down watching TV they could go and play sports.”

All of the students we spoke to have a good attitude about Lent; they say giving something up isn't so bad when you realize there are children in the world that don't have chocolate, or pop.
