April is Child Abuse Prevention Month and a national campaign to raise awareness about child abuse prevention is also underway in the metro.

Volunteers set up pinwheels at the Child Saving Institute at 45th and Dodge in Omaha, hoping the pinwheels will remind parents there is help if you need it and don't let stress turn to abuse.

“If we can get information to folks that there is help available, you don't have to be so frustrated that you end up hitting your child or so overwhelmed that you are neglectful of your child, there is help available and all you have to do is reach out and ask for it,” said child advocate Sheryl Overby.

Other metro organizations are taking part in this campaign. Pinwheels have also been placed at both ends of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge.
