Authorities got some unlikely help in stopping a vehicle being pursued near Cedar Rapids when it hit a deer and rolled over on Friday.
The chase began when an officer tried to stop the vehicle around 4 p.m., but the driver sped off. Police lost sight of the vehicle, but a Linn County Sheriff's Department deputy spotted it and turned on his lights and sirens. The vehicle continued until it hit the deer.
The two occupants in the vehicle were injured and taken to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
