A woman is seen allegedly handing over a counterfeit $20 bill. Bellevue, Nebraska. November 4, 2012.
A woman allegedly tries to pass counterfeit money at a convenience store. The incident was caught on video. Sarpy County Crime Stoppers hopes you can help identify her.
We have attached the video to this story.
It happened about 4:30pm Sunday, November 4 at the Kwik Shop at 42nd & Harrison.
As you watch the video, you will see that the woman seemed to have an intense interest with the sunglasses on display. Police suspect she was waiting for customer traffic to pick up so the clerk would become distracted.
Eventually, she made her way to the counter with a few items to buy. The clerk said when she handed over a $20 bill, he could tell right away it was fake.
He even showed it to another customer who, as it turns out, was an off-duty officer. The woman agreed it was a fake.
The customer claimed she had just received the money as change from another store. The clerk asked her to stock around while he called police to investigate. At that point, the woman allegedly said she could not wait for police because she has warrants.
She grew agitated and bolted, leaving the fake $20 bill behind.
