A couple was attacked just feet away from their home in South Omaha and it was all caught on video. The victims spoke to WOWT 6.
Rick Moreno and his girlfriend, Jennifer Lindsay, are still recovering after an attack on Saturday afternoon. Moreno still has a black eye and a bite mark on his ear. Lindsay has bruises on her ear and the side of her head.
They said it all began when they returned home to their apartment near 40th and D. “We pulled up in the parking lot and were confronted by two men. They were talking about how we had cut them off in our vehicle a few moments before,” said Lindsay.
Moreno’s father had been driving. The couple’s friend and their five year old son were also in the car. The couple showed us surveillance video of what happened next.
They said after talking back and forth, one of the men took a swing at Moreno. “My guard was down and he clocked me.”
Lindsay tried to break up the fight, but also ended up getting hit. Then more men from another apartment also started to attack Moreno. “I thought they were going to kill him, because of how many people were on top of him,” said Lindsay
Lindsay called 911 and as she went to try and get the license plate number to tell police, she was hit again. Meanwhile Moreno was fighting back.
Finally the men left, but now the couple says they are worried for their family’s safety, they believe at least one gang member may have been involved. “He had said that he was South family. He was shouting it as they were leaving that they were going to come back and shoot our apartment up,” said Lindsay.
There have not been any arrests. The couple said they hadn’t seen the two men before, but they do think people in their complex know them and that’s why they got in on the fight.
