Sunday afternoon the wave pool at Fun Plex was quite a hot spot.
“The water park is going to be pretty busy,” Beach House supervisor Kayla Rubek said.
Staff members have been bracing for large crowds, expecting even more to slide through this week.
“We make sure on a busy day like this that we have a guard or two at every location that people are swimming in,” Rubek said.
Lifeguards like Andrew Ciurej. He’s been here for two summers now.
“It's hard. I mean the heat really gets to you,” Ciurej said.
He's got one of the hottest and coolest jobs of the summer. Admitting he jumps in about 30 times a day to keep cool and watch swimmers.
And while more people are crashing the waves at Fun Plex, more lifeguards are watching for things in the water and they don't expect anything to change anytime soon.
“From here on till the rest of the summer till we close it doesn't really die down much,” Ciurej said.
And neither is the line at the movie theater. We found Sue and Jane Richter heading in to the air condition.
“It's an oven it's disgusting. Yes, yes it is. We know it's going to be cool inside,” Jane Richter said.
But they have a different view on the weather.
Its summer, we'll miss this next winter. We complain about it now but we'll wish we had it next December,” Richter said.
