Investigators say 18-year-old Dalvin Krmpotic was caught in the act, burglarizing an abandoned trailer inside the Park Meadows neighborhood. Sergeant John Pankonin believes a week earlier the teen stole butter and other items from another trailer.
Investigators believe he burglarized two other businesses in the area, including the Zesto's in Northwest Omaha. The owner says the only thing taken was the penny jar. Investigators believe Krmpotic kicked in the drive-through window to enter the shop.
Nothing but a pair of keys was taken from the Cherry Bean; however, significant damage was left behind.
After Krmpotic was arrested, investigators took the shoes he was wearing as evidence. They found markings similar to his shoes at Zesto's. The prints also went from a burglarized home to a family member's home in the same neighborhood, which is where investigators found items linking Krmpotic to the other burglaries.
