A transformation is nearing completion in North Omaha in the form of the 2014 Habitat for Humanity Builders Blitz.
More than 1,000 volunteers have given their time to help build eight houses and rebuild another two.
Incredibly, the building blitz takes place over one week. By Father's Day it will look like a normal neighborhood.
All this represents an investment in North Omaha of about $1.5 million.
It's a lot of work but the people swinging the hammers are loving every minute.
Habitat’s John McLeay said, “It's a really nice project and it's a week to build but it's been almost a year of planning until this point and recruiting contractors and people within the community to help us out and it might look like chaos but it's organized chaos."
Habitat plans to do two more houses on the block later this year. You can watch all the action on a live web cam Habitat has up at the site.
