A White House official says billionaire investor Warren Buffett is to be awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation's highest civilian honor.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity ahead of a formal announcement expected Wednesday afternoon.
Buffett, chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, will be among 15 recipients of the 2010 Medal of Freedom. The awards will be presented early next year.
The medal is presented to people who have made notable contributions to U.S. interests, from cultural achievements to security matters.
