Branstad Denies Eight Commutation Applications

Iowa Gov. Terry E. Branstad denied application by eight inmates for commutation of their sentences.

The eight and their crimes are:

Shannon Elizabeth Lee Breeden, 28, in Scott County and is currently serving a twenty-five year sentence with a 70% mandatory for attempted murder in 2002.

Helena F. Burrell, 70, is currently serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in 1985.

Sheri Fisher, 29, is currently serving a thirty-five year sentence with a 70% mandatory for attempted murder and willful injury causing serious injury in 2006.

Laura E. Hockmuth, 32, is currently serving a fifty-year sentence with a 70% mandatory for second-degree kidnapping and first-degree robbery in 1997.

Christine M. Lockheart, 46, was originally sentenced to a life sentence for first-degree murder and first-degree robbery in 1985. Because she was under the age of 18 at the time of her crime, her sentence was vacated and she is currently waiting re-sentencing.

Tifany A. Myers, 32, committed her crime in 2000. She is currently serving a fifty-year sentence with a 70% mandatory.

Susan Ross, 55, is currently serving a one hundred year sentence for second-degree kidnapping and drug possession with intent to deliver in 2003.

Judy K. White, 67, is currently serving a life sentence for first-degree murder in 1979.
