It may be too early to take down the Christmas tree just yet, but not too soon to plan on how you're going to get rid of it.

The Boy Scouts are here to help. If you make a reservation, Boy Scout Troop 282 or 558 will come and pick up your tree and recycle it. Scout organizers say this program fits right in with their values.

"This gets the Scouts and parents out to help out the community and get those trees where they can be put to use for fish habitats or other kind of mulch and other useful things instead of being lost in the dump somewhere,” said Ed Furman of Troop 282.

The Scouts will be picking up trees beginning Saturday and continuing into January. "We have 15 crews out, there's two troops doing it, that's a lot of trucks and a lot of trailers,” said Furman. “It is kind of fun to get out there and drive around and try to find these addresses. You learn a little bit about the community by getting out and finding out where people live."
