A disaster recovery center has been set up in Spencer to help Nebraskans affected by the historic flooding of the Missouri River.
It is scheduled to operate from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Spencer City Office and Fire Hall. It will be closed over the holiday weekend, then open on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Individual disaster aid is available to people who live in Boyd, Burt, Cass, Dakota, Dixon, Douglas, Knox, Sarpy and Washington counties.
Officials say people with flood-related losses should register with FEMA even if they have applied for assistance with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, filed a claim with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, received assistance from voluntary agencies or called the Nebraska flood hotline to report damage.
